Utility palettes
Status Line palette
Drag the Title bar to reposition the palette.
Click the Close box to turn the palette display “off”.
Text hints for tools. (Dynamic display depends on which tool is selected.)
x-y-z coordinate data fields
Automatically updates to show position of cursor in View windows.
With cursor over Status Line palette, may create 2D contours, or 3D primitives
by entering data to “lay down” bounding box corners or vertices: select a tool
from the Tool palette; move cursor to position over the Status Line palette;
press Tab key to access x-y-z data fields; enter coordinates, then press Enter
key (repeat Tab/Enter sequence for second point).
Statistics palette
Click-hold to expose a menu listing; drag down the menu listing to highlight
list items; release mouse-key to activate highlighted list item.
Dynamic display depends on which palette in selected in the View
pull-down menu.
Drag the Title bar to reposition the palette.
Click the Close box to turn the palette display “off”.
Click the Window shade box to “compress” the palette, and move it off View
windows; click on Window shade button on “come it back to its previous
position over View windows to its previous position over View windows.
View (pull-down menu)
Lists three palette display options (General, Volume, Area).
General Statistics palette
Show Rotation Point (check box)
Click in the box to toggle “on/off”. If “on”, then rotation point of selected
item displays in the View windows (as small, thick circle).
x-y-z coordinate (data fields)
Displays the coordinates of rotation point of selected item. Make entries
in the data fields to reposition the rotation point of selected item.
Volume Statistics palette
For information only. Calculates Dry Volume and Liquid Volume
(choose standard/metric scale from pull-down menus). Click on selected
item to calculate volume statistics.
Suspend/Continue (button)
Stops/Starts volume calculations.
Area Statistics palette
For information only. Click on selected item to calculate Area statistics.
Surface Area
Choose standard/metric scale from pull-down menus.
Surface Volume
Choose standard/metric scale from pull-down menus. Enter a positive
number in the Thickness data field to calculate Surface Volume
(material volume).
Suspend/Continue (button)
Stops/Starts area calculations.
Libraries palette
Drag the Title bar to reposition the palette.
Click the Close box to turn the palette display “off”.
Click the Window shade box to “compress” the palette, and move it off View
windows; click on Window shade button on “compressed” palette to expand
the palete it back to its previous position over View windows.ew windows.
Open Library… in the File menu
Use this function to put Library items from another database into the
Libraries palette in the current active database. Makes a new file icon at
Library Top.Drag an item from the Groups menu onto this palette to convert
the item to a Library item.
Library tool (book icon in the Tool palette)
The lasso icon changes to a book icon when placing an item from the
Libraries palette. Select an item in the Libraries palette; move the cursor
onto a View window; then click to place the item. Click in an open space in
the Libraries palette to de-select the Library tool.
Libraries palette icons
Dynamic, iconic display of Front view of each Library item.
Box
Represents an individual object.
Folder (aka parent)
Represents a group of items (aka children).
Double-click on a parent item to display its children. Use the
pull-down menu to return to display of parent item(s).
Library Top
In the pull-down menu, displays files being used as Library files.
Close (trash can icon)
Drag Library Top file icon to the trash can icon to Close the Library
file; preparatory to Open the file simultaneous to current active file.
